General Information
The Henry Samueli School of Engineering has four computer labs to serve our instructional computing needs. The labs provide a unique environment for coursework, collaboration, and community.
The computer labs allow students the opportunity to use specialized software not available for installation on personally-own laptops.
The labs are especially utilized by our Seniors completing their senior design projects.
Their availability and open hours benefit students who need quiet study space away from home.
UCInet Mobile Access is available in all of the computer labs.
Computer labs are maintained by School of Engineering computing staff.
Instructors and TA’s reserve the right to restrict access to registered students when scheduled classes are in session.
Computer Lab Hardware
180 PC's available for instruction & student-use.
Current lab computers were purchased Summer 2019.
The operating system is Windows 10 64-bit, Education version.
Make & model: HP Z2 G4 Small Form-Factor Workstation.
Components include:
Monitors: HP L2045w, 24 inch, fully-articulating and height-adjustable.
Processor: Intel Xeon, 4 core
Memory; 32 GB RAM
Video card: NVidia Quadro P1000, 4 GB
Hard drive: 2 TB
MSTB 224 - HSSOE General Use
MSTB 224 located in the Multi-Science and Technology Building is the main general-use Engineering computer lab used for instruction. It is available to Engineering students on a walk-in basis when discussions are not scheduled. Check the schedule posted on the doors or visit the online schedule.
Hours & Availability:
The building is locked after 10:00pm Monday - Friday, after 6:00pm on Saturdays, and all day on Sundays.
Students can access the room (after hours) using the door code sent to their email address each quarter.
Request a door code at the Engineering Student Affairs office if you didn't receive it via email.
Facilities include:
Projector connected to TA station with extra AV inputs for laptops.
TA station equipped with computer.
Ceiling speakers along with inputs at TA station to connect laptop & external device audio.
Campus wireless network.
Extra outlets to charge laptops.
Empty tables and chairs for group collaboration.
Extra whiteboards.
Printer.
There are 75 desktops and 1 TA station.
